Press Release: "International Webinar of the Accounting Department FEB UPNVY Explores Public Sector Governance for Inclusive and Impactful Development"

As part of the 32nd Anniversary (4 Windu) series of events of the Accounting Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY), an International Webinar entitled “Strengthening Public Sector Governance for Inclusive & Impactful Development: Public Governancy Contextualization in Indonesia” was held on Friday, September 12, 2025. The event featured Vogy Gautama Buanaputera, Ph.D, AFHEA (Cardiff University, UK, and Chairman of the Indonesian Public Sector National Corporate Governance Committee) as the keynote speaker, with Ida Ayu Purnama, S.E., M.Sc. (Accounting Lecturer at UPNVY) serving as moderator.

The event was conducted in a hybrid format, with onsite participation at the FEB UPNVY campus and online attendance. Around 300 participants joined the webinar, both offline and online, representing universities across Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua. The enthusiasm of participants was reflected in the active discussions and strong interest in public sector governance issues.

In his presentation, Dr. Vogy emphasized the importance of understanding paradigm shifts in theories applied to public sector entities. He highlighted the common failure of directly adopting business theories into the public sector, which often misaligns with the unique characteristics of government institutions. Furthermore, the speaker elaborated on four key pillars of public sector governancy, which serve as a critical foundation for creating inclusive, adaptive, and impactful public sector governance.

This event not only enriched academic insights but also opened up strategic discussions on public sector governance practices in Indonesia. With a spirit of collaboration, the webinar is expected to serve as a tangible contribution of the Accounting Department FEB UPNVY in supporting the realization of transparent, accountable, and impactful governance for society.

The 32nd Anniversary (4 Windu) celebration of the Accounting Department FEB UPNVY carries the overarching theme #BerkolaborasiBerprestasi (“Collaborating for Excellence”), as a manifestation of its commitment to continuously contributing to the advancement of knowledge and accounting practices in Indonesia.
