The Brief History of UPNYK and the Faculty of Economics and Business

The Faculty of Economics and Business was established under the Decree of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs Number: 157/KPTS/159 dated on 26th of October 1959, in which the Academy of National Development “Veteran” added one more major under its belt, which were named Department of Corporate Leadership. The maiden class of this department took place on the date of 26th of November 1959.

On the 30th of July 1965, based on the Decree of Ministry of Veterans Affairs and Demobilization and Ministry of Higher Education and Science Number 140/KPTS/1965, the Academy of National Development “Veteran” and Department of Corporate Leadership was upgraded in status into National Development College “Veteran” Yogyakarta and Faculty of Corporate Management, respectively.

And then on 30th of November 1977, based on the Decree of Ministry of National Defense and Security Number 1555/XI/1977, the name of National Development College “Veteran” Yogyakarta was changed again into its current name, University of National Development “Veteran” Yogyakarta.

In accordance to the Decree of Ministry of Defence Number 01/II/1993, the Faculty of Corporate Management got upgraded and expanded to accommodate a new majors which are economics and accounting. The maiden class of both of these new majors took place on the 6th of Septmber 1993.

Starting on 1st of April 1995, University of National Development “Veteran” Yogyakarta and its entirety, was changed in status from Perguruan Tinggi (PT) into Private-owned Higher Education Institution (Perguruan Tinggi Swasta/PT), which were held so until 6th of October in which University of National Development “Veteran” Yogyakarta were nationalized into State-owned Higher Education Institution (Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/PTN)
