Friday, 6th of December, 2024 – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) officially established a partnership with the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Yogyakarta Regional Office (DIY) through the inauguration of the "Pojok Statistik" (Statistics Corner). The establishment of the "Pojok Statistik" at UPNVY marks the third of its kind, following earlier setups at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) and Universitas Gunung Kidul (UGK).
According to Herum Fajarwati, Head of BPS DIY, the presence of the "Pojok Statistik" within a university environment is crucial as students, being the future leaders of the nation, need to understand and utilize data from an early stage. This data literacy will serve as a foundation for planning, evaluation, and evidence-based decision-making that is accountable.
The Rector of UPNVY, Prof. Dr. M. Irhas Effendi, M.Si, expressed hope that this collaboration would support the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 by strengthening education and research. He emphasized that data plays a vital role in research and education, contributing to national development efforts.
The "Pojok Statistik," located in the Department of Development Economics building, is accessible to the entire academic community, including students and faculty members. This initiative aims to enhance the performance and quality of education at UPNVY while also serving as a platform for implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education.
