2) Press Release: "Socialization of Business and Non-Business Licensing at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta - Session 1"

Yogyakarta, Monday, August 4, 2025 – The Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DPMPTSP DIY), in collaboration with UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, organized a socialization program on business and non-business licensing as part of its public and academic education initiatives. This activity also supports the development of the Microeconomics and MSMEs Laboratory as a learning and information center for students and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Held at SPD Room 1 of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, the event was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of Commission B of the Yogyakarta Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD DIY), Dr. Danang Wahyu Broto, S.E., M.Si.; Nuri Achadiyanti, S.H., M.Si., Senior Expert in Licensing Administration at DPMPTSP DIY; OSS Helpdesk Officer, Mrs. Firna Hayyu Nindya Maritza, S.E., M.E.K.; Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, Dr. Januar Eko Prasetio, S.E., M.Si.; Head of the Economics Department, Dr. E. Diah Lufti Wijayanti, S.E., M.Si.; Coordinator of the Microeconomics and MSMEs Laboratory; lecturers from the Department of Economics of FEB UPNVY; and students from FEB UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.

The program was opened by Mrs. Nuri Achadiyanti, S.H., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of understanding business law from an early stage. She also underlined that collaboration between the government and universities is key to strengthening risk-based licensing literacy. Dr. Januar Eko Prasetio, S.E., M.Si., as Dean of FEB, added that students will later play a role in disseminating an understanding of business legality to the community, including during community service programs (KKN).

In the dialogue session, Dr. Danang Wahyu Broto, S.E., M.Si., stated that legality is an integral part of a business actor’s identity and integrity, thus making the Business Identification Number (NIB) highly important. He also provided an opportunity for participants to directly convey licensing-related challenges to the DPRD.

The main material was delivered by Mrs. Firna Hayyu Nindya Maritza, S.E., M.E.K., who explained the risk-based licensing system categorized into low, medium, and high risks, each with different procedures. Low-risk businesses only require an NIB and a self-declaration, whereas higher-risk businesses require additional verification. She also elaborated on the importance of KBLI classification and business scale, as well as the ease of doing business for MSMEs, such as the automatic issuance of PKKPR. In addition, she guided participants through a hands-on NIB registration process, demonstrating that obtaining an NIB is both easy and fast.

This socialization not only enhanced students’ technical understanding of business legality but also fostered awareness of the importance of legally based business governance. DPMPTSP DIY hopes that this initiative will contribute to the growth of an inclusive and orderly investment ecosystem in Yogyakarta.

 

3) Press Release: "Socialization of Business and Non-Business Licensing at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta - Session 2"

YOGYAKARTA. Wednesday, 6th of August 2025 — The Yogyakarta Special Region Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP DIY), in collaboration with UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, held a socialization session on business and non-business licensing procedures. This activity aimed to enhance the understanding of the academic community and the public regarding the risk-based licensing system. The event also supported the initiative to establish a Microeconomics and MSME Laboratory on campus, serving as a practical learning facility for students and an information hub for novice entrepreneurs.

Held in the SPD 1 Room of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UPNVY, the event was attended by Dr. Danang Wahyu Broto (Commission B, DPRD DIY), Nuri Achadiyanti (DPMPTSP DIY), Firna Hayyu Nindya Maritza (OSS Helpdesk, DPMPTSP DIY), Dr. Januar Eko Prasetyo (Dean of FEB), Dr. E. Diah Lufti Wijayanti (Head of the Department of Economics), faculty members, and students of FEB UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.

The event was opened by Nuri Achadiyanti, who emphasized the importance of understanding business legality among students. She highlighted the synergy between the government and universities in strengthening licensing literacy, particularly risk-based licensing.

This was followed by welcoming remarks from Dr. Januar Eko Prasetyo, S.E., M.Si., Dean of FEB UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. In his address, he stressed the importance of instilling the spirit of bela negara (defending the nation) in students pursuing entrepreneurial paths. “When you later become entrepreneurs, demonstrate your patriotic spirit through business legality, one way being by obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB),” he stated.

In the dialogue session, Dr. Danang Wahyu Broto, S.E., M.Si., from Commission B of the DPRD DIY, asserted that legality is a form of recognition of an entrepreneur’s identity. “Licensing is part of identity, and identity is crucial.” He also opened the floor for participants to directly share the obstacles they face in the licensing process.

The main material was delivered by Firna Maritza, who explained the OSS (Online Single Submission) system based on risk classification (low, medium, high). She also guided a hands-on practice for obtaining an NIB, demonstrating that the licensing process is now easier, faster, and free of charge.

Through this activity, students not only gained an understanding of the technical aspects of licensing but also became aware of the important role universities play in shaping law-abiding entrepreneurs. DPMPTSP DIY hopes that such initiatives will foster an inclusive and well-structured investment climate in Yogyakarta.

 

4) Press Release: "Field Study at BPKP East Java Branch"

Wednesday, February 5, 2025 – Students of the Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta, conducted a field study at the Representative Office of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) of East Java. This visit aimed to deepen their understanding of state financial management and the role of BPKP in public financial oversight.
 

During this activity, students received a direct presentation from Mr. Wahyudi Wicaksono, SST Akt., MA, MSE, QRMA, a Junior Expert Auditor at BPKP East Java. He provided a comprehensive explanation of an overview of state financial management. The material covered BPKP's role in government internal supervision, the mechanisms of state and regional financial management, and the importance of transparency and accountability in public financial administration.

Additionally, the interactive discussion session offered deeper insights into the challenges and strategies for maintaining good governance in state financial management.

 

5) Press Release: "Field Lecture at the Bank Indonesia Regional Representative Office for East Java"

Tuesday, February 4, 2025 – Students of the Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta, conducted a field lecture at the Regional Representative Office (KPw) of Bank Indonesia in East Java. This activity aimed to deepen their understanding of central banking, economic assessment, and the "Love, Proud, and Understand Rupiah" initiative. The program provided students with direct insights into the role and functions of Bank Indonesia as the central bank in maintaining economic stability, particularly in the areas of monetary policy, payment systems, and rupiah currency management.

The first speaker in this session was Mr. Gandhiano Dwi Putera, who delivered a presentation on Central Banking and Economic Assessment in East Java. During this session, students received insights from Bank Indonesia's expert team regarding inflation control strategies, interest rate policies, and BI's role in promoting economic growth. Additionally, students learned how Bank Indonesia assesses regional and national economic conditions to support the formulation of effective policies.

The second speaker was Mr. Mabruri, who presented material on the "Love, Proud, and Understand Rupiah" initiative. As part of the educational efforts related to this program, students were introduced to the importance of maintaining the sovereignty of the rupiah, including aspects of currency security, methods for identifying genuine banknotes, and the role of the public in maintaining exchange rate stability.

 

6) The Victory of Rodhiah Umaroh

Rodhiah Umaroh, a lecturer in the Department of Economics Development, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UPN "Veteran" Yogjakarta, successfully secured 3rd place in the 2024 Jogja Economic Forum (JEF) competition. This event, initiated by Bank Indonesia's Regional Office for the Special Region of Jogjakarta (DIY), is a call-for-papers competition aimed at encouraging strategic and innovative thinking in the region's economy.

The culmination of JEF 2024 took place on August 8, 2024, at Hotel Tentrem, Jogjakarta, where Rodhiah Umaroh was announced as the 3rd place winner in the Doctoral Student category. Her paper captured the attention of the judges with its in-depth analysis of optimizing Jogjakarta's economic potential in contributing to national economic resilience and recovery. The competition was participated in by 220 entrants from various institutions, and through a rigorous selection process, Rodhiah's paper made it into the top 5 finalists in her category.

The 2024 Jogja Economic Forum, themed "Driving Jogjakarta's Economy to Contribute to National Economic Resilience and Recovery," is a joint initiative by the Jogjakarta Regional Office of Bank Indonesia, the Jogjakarta Regional Government, and the Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI) Jogjakarta Branch. This event aims to generate research-based policy recommendations that can be implemented by the DIY Regional Government to enhance the regional economy.

The Jogja Economic Forum (JEF) 2024 reaffirms the crucial role of research and innovation in driving regional economic growth and highlights the importance of synergy between academia, government, and the private sector in realizing a resilient and sustainable economic vision.
