Yogyakarta, June 22, 2024 – AIESEC in UPN Veteran Yogyakarta is once again holding the Incoming Global Volunteer program, which runs from June 22 to August 3, 2024. This program brings international delegates from various countries to participate in social activities, one of which is teaching children in several villages in Yogyakarta. The program is joined by international delegates from Egypt, China, Vietnam, Pakistan, Japan, and Morocco. The participants in this program are as follows:
For six weeks, the delegates actively engaged in various activities aimed at improving education quality and introducing global culture to children in several locations in Yogyakarta. They taught children in three villages: Purbayan Village, Purwokinanti Village, and Wirobrajan Village. Additionally, during the last two weeks, they also taught at two elementary schools, SD Mutiara Persada and SD Tumbuh 3. This activity not only focused on teaching but also introduced culture and global values to the local community. The international delegates collaborated with Local Volunteers consisting of local Jogja students, who accompanied and supported the learning process.
Besides teaching, the delegates were also given the opportunity to learn about the rich culture of Yogyakarta. They visited a batik MSME empowerment center, where they learned about the traditional batik-making process. The participants also took part in gamelan music learning sessions with the karawitan community of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, aiming to introduce and preserve the art of traditional Javanese music. This activity represents AIESEC in UPNVY’s commitment to facilitating cultural exchange and global experiences, while also making a positive impact on the Yogyakarta community. This Incoming Global Volunteer program not only provides tangible contributions to local education but also opens opportunities for international participants to gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta, with all its cultural diversity. Through a spirit of collaboration, this activity is expected to strengthen international relations while enhancing cross-cultural understanding between the delegates and the local community. AIESEC in UPNVY remains committed to creating opportunities for young people in an effort to build sustainable communities.
