Yogyakarta, August 22, 2025 — The Undergraduate and Master’s Programs in Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, organized a workshop titled “Redesigning Semester Learning Plans (RPS) Based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE)” on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the FEB Seminar Room. The event featured Prof. B.M. Purwanto, MBA, Ph.D., as the keynote speaker, with Dr. Dwi Sudaryati, S.E., M.Acc., Ak., CA., serving as moderator.
The workshop aimed to provide in-depth understanding and practical guidance for lecturers and program managers in redesigning lesson plans (RPS) within the OBE framework. This approach emphasizes measurable learning outcomes that are relevant to international demands and equip students with globally competitive competencies.
In his presentation, Prof. B.M. Purwanto highlighted the importance of formulating clear and measurable graduate competencies that go beyond reliance on the Grade Point Average (GPA). “GPA does not always reflect a student’s actual competence. A dual system is needed to ensure that students truly possess the expected skills,” he stressed.
He also elaborated on the crucial role of rubrics in OBE, from defining graduate learning outcomes (CPL) and mapping the curriculum to objectively assessing achievements. Rubrics are considered the “recipe” that translates abstract competencies into concrete, measurable indicators.
Furthermore, Prof. B.M. Purwanto emphasized that graduate profiles should not merely describe possible jobs, but rather the core competencies students must master. He also pointed out the need for improvements in tracer study practices to ensure more representative data collection.
The workshop became increasingly engaging with interactive discussions and Q&A sessions. Issues discussed included curriculum design for new study programs, assessment of CPL by both programs and lecturers, and the integration of local wisdom values into student competency measurement.
Through this workshop, it is expected that lecturers and program managers, particularly in the Accounting Study Program of FEB UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, can strengthen the implementation of OBE in lesson plan design. Thus, the educational process will not only produce graduates with high GPAs but also competent, critical, creative individuals capable of competing at both national and international levels.
